HAITI'S HERO: ISRAEL

Amid the devastation in Haiti, one tiny nation has gone above and beyond the call of duty to help: Israel.

The day after the crushing earthquake rocked the island, a team of 250 Israeli medical personnel, including doctors, nurses, lab and X-ray technicians and even a psychiatrist, touched down in the Caribbean nation. They created a mobile hospital, including a surgical unit, pharmacy and maternity ward. Also, members of ZAKA, a volunteer ultra-Orthodox rescue organization, dug through the rubble on the Sabbath to save lives, stopping only to pray.

The first mother to deliver a baby amid chaos named the child "Israel."

I am proud to point out the heroism and selflessness displayed by the Israelis, while some nations do nothing. I must, because Israel will never seek out praise.
